Exposure Novíssim @ s in the City of Alicante 

Every year, students of the workshop “The Art of Black and White”, her analog photographs in black and white made in the laboratory of our University Headquarters.

 The exhibition, which opens on January 13 at 20:15, will run until February 6.

Exposure Joguets. A century of history in Alicante Toy House in Badin

The House Badin, will host  the presentation of this publication that delves into the origins and evolution of this object from the first dolls, of the late nineteenth century to the present sophistication, through the toys wartime.

Titled Joguets. A century of history Toy in Alicante , the publication discusses the various aspects of the manufacturing, production and processing which is specifically focused on three populations: Dénia and wooden toy, Ibi evolved from the product to the manufacture of tinplate all kinds of toys and Onil municipality that has historically been dedicated to making dolls.

The book also includes chapters on twelve aspects as its educational and entertainment value, the role AIJU-technological center of reference in the field of children’s products-as well as the history of advertising linked to this industry. The most emblematic companies that have operated in the province, as famous or Paya, a personal view of its history and the legacy left by past, present and future generations or a review by the Museu dels Joguets of Denia, the Valencian Museum Ibi Toy and Doll Museum Onil complete content offering publication.

The edition of this copy is complete with a presentation on antique toys from local museums Ibi, Onil and Dénia. The exhibition, which opens with the presentation of the magazine Canelobre, can be visited in the Bardín House to Feb. 23.

Painting Exhibition at the turn of the century MUBAG Alicante

 The Valencian painting of the nineteenth century occupied a prominent position in the Spanish, art scene especially significant during the turn of the century, although its importance continued well into the twentieth century. How could it be otherwise, the Museum of Fine Arts in Valencia maintains an extensive collection of paintings of that period, known to many as the “Silver Age of Valencian art.”

This exhibition aims to extend some of these funds, recently reorganized its exposure to the public, the rest of Valencia, also in this case establishing a dialogue with the MUBAG permanent, dedicated to the nineteenth century.

For this, the exhibition includes a selection of paintings by such masters as Joaquin Agrasot, Muñoz DEGRAIN, Francisco Domingo, Ignacio Pinney, Emilio Sala, and Joaquin Sorolla’s Benlliure, among others.

 Creative Calendar Exhibition at the School of Art and Design in Alicante

 StudentsGraphicDesignSchool of Art and Design Alicante (EASDA), were responsible for opening the first exhibition of the year, with the work done since the subject of Graphic Design 3: Packaging. In it, they have made a creative schedule in 3D, based on concepts such as key dates, weather or habits and customs of each month.

 Exposure Nothing M ª Dolores Mullah in Fish Market

The series of exhibitions “last Art. 21 days” that develops in the municipal hall of the Fish focuses on the recent work of Maria Dolores Mullah.

The exhibition shows works on canvas and cotton thread, plus installations, video and pictures.  Exposure titled The Nothing, which means something like a full stop to start again with more verve, according to the author.

The exhibition will last until February 2

 Photographic Exhibition Canícula, Cheo Díez, Fnac Boulevard in Alicante

” Cheo Díez (Sevilla 1968) portrays a difficult decision,  theme represented by photographs, with a condensed visual language, where a light and heat that suffocates us to see reflected.

Cheo speaks through your photos. While observing, we need a little stroll under the blinding light and searing heat, that your pictures because we explain to perfection. There is little more to tell.

 Exhibition Between heaven and earth. Landscapes in the MUA collection

The Museum of the University of Alicante has among its main objectives to study and disseminate the art funds that account. That is why since 2005 have conducted more than a dozen exhibitions in which the collection is reinterpreted from technical teaching thematic criteria, materials.

Exhibition proposal for 2014 have been selected twenty works, taking as reference the landscape and emphasizing, the diversity of languages with which they have approached the artists in the collection of the nature and the city.

They are works ranging from classic landscape, abstraction and formal research more determined, in the most vibrant and light industrial and decaying cityscape nature of the representation of the stars and the cosmos to the tracks atmospheric phenomena, leave at ground level, the conceptual translation of the city’s self-portrait to landscape as emotions and feelings. A compendium of worldviews where creators share their gaze with the viewer through the painting, printmaking, collage, photography or video.

 Alicante’s cuisine is typically Mediterranean, the fertility of its lands have provided an enormous richness and variety food.

 The Mediterranean Sea provides the freshest, best quality fish and shellfish and are a must for all visitors, such as the red shrimps from Alicante and the king prawns, crayfish, squid, red mullet, and many other types of seafood.

 Before sitting down for a meal, appetisers are the best thing to whet your appetite nothing better than the traditional tapas and montaditos, with a variety of toppings, typical of this area.

 Rice plays a leading role in a huge variety of meals, although many other ingredients are also used in the preparation of traditional recipes: Arrow a Banda, a rice dish with seafood, arrow caldoso, a brothy rice dish with seafood and the popular olleta rice dish with meat and vegetables.

 El caldero, a seafood stew, is a meal in itself and is the typical dish of TabarcaIsland. It consists of rice stewed with (monkfish, eel, mullet…) with the fish, normally accompanied by rich, fragrant garlic all i oli.

 Cured salted fish is used as the main ingredient for making many types of salazones featuring products which are served as appetisers: such as mojama (dried salted tuna), huevas (roe), ventresca de atún (tuna belly), the tonyina de sorra type of tuna, herring, etc, 

 Alicante is also renowned for its savoury pastries known as coca and tonyina, as well as its esmorzaret made with salted sardines, fried egg and ñora peppers.

 For dessert there are more products to enjoy, including aniseed rolls, la coca boba sponge cake, dates and dried fruits. Not forgetting the famous ice creams and the turrón de Jijona nougat or the delicious chocolate from the neighbouring town of Villajoyosa.

 The dinner table would not be complete in Alicante without wine. Dark full bodied reds, rosés and young whites made from grapes of the Monastrell, Vermeta or Garnacha varieties and el Fondillón, a world-famous aged wine from Alicante.

 The restaurants of Alicante have kept up the tradition of a rich and sensual cuisine, which has been recently up- dated to offer innovative versions of traditional products and dishes.

Cala Cantalar in Cabo de las Huertas – Alicante

La Cala Cantalar is a few meters from Camino del Faro. It is noted for its natural environment and its rocky composition. Has an area of ​​100 meters long and 6 meters wide. Definitely a small shelter where to be in complete sync with nature.

 The beach of San Juan is the best known of Alicante. With an area of ​​7 km, is an open sandy beach that runs from Cabo de las Huertas to El Campbell.

 Albufereta Beach – Alicante

 AlbuferetaBeach is midway between Alicante and Playa de San Juan. It’s a beach of fine golden sand about 500 meters long, calm waters.

 There are many facilities in the vicinity a few meters away is the Club Náutico Alicante.

 Its promenade has recently been remodelled, with shaded areas and rest alternating with games for children.

 Services: recreational sports, floating platform, wheelchair access, housekeeping, play areas, boardwalk, rescue service, footbaths.

 Carabassí beach in Elche – Alicante

Located at the foot of the mountain CarabassíBeach is a pristine golden beach and clear water of about 1 km. length. Its location in the natural landscape of dunes, marshes and low vegetation make this beach a haven.

Considered ecological protection area, is suitable for nudists.

The Lighthouse of Cabo de San Antonio Javea

The Cape of San Antonio, which is located in the Natural Park of Montgó.

El Faro: located about 170 meters high. It is located in a privileged position from which we can see to the north the town of Denia and the Gulf of Valencia and south bay of Javea.

San Antonio is steep, rocky and rough, has a great natural and immense biodiversity. It was declared a Marine Reserve in 1993. At the end of the line, at the top of the lighthouse is located.

San Antonio is an amazing viewpoint. Enjoy a superb panoramic view of the coast of Javea and Denia.

SAINT JOHN’S BONFIRE:  It isn’t about making a flame. The Bonfires of Saint John is a popular festival celebrated around Saint John’s day’s eve (23 June) throughout many cities and towns in Spain; the largest one takes place in Alicante, where it is considered the most important festival in the city.

 For this festival, people gather together and create large bonfires from any kind of wood, such as old furniture, and share hot chocolate while teens and children jump over the fires.

 Recently acknowledged as one of Europe’s best fiestas, the “Fogueres de Sant Joan” have all the ingredients necessary for a unique experience. You’ll be surrounded by warmth, colours and sensations.

You must simply come to Alicante when summer begins and get filled with sensations, musical sounds, thundering powder, beautiful women, eternal fireworks and nights when streets are lived. You will, for sure, integrate as another Alicantinian and walk restlessly through its streets.

Once declared as National Touristic Interest, and later as International Touristic Interest, today Alicante Bonfires are, besides, Official Celebrations of the city of Alicante.

 The Moors and Christians is a set of festival activities which are celebrated in many towns and cities of Spain, mainly in the southern Valencia Community. According to popular tradition the festivals commemorate the battles, combats and fights between Moors and Christians during the period known as Reconquista.

The people that take part in the festival are usually enlisted in filaes . The festivals last for several days. Christians wear fur, metallic helmets, and armour, fire loud harquebusiers, and ride horses. In contrast, Moors wear ancient Arab costumes, carry scimitars, and ride real camels or elephants. The festival develops among shots of gunpowder, medieval music, and fireworks, and ends with the Christians winning a simulated battle around a castle.

The main fiesta in the province has its own unique version in the capital city. It is held in five different district of the city. It starts in El Palamó in March, carries on Sant Blas in July. In summer it arrives to the country district of El Rebolledo in July and to the district of Altozano and José Antonio both in August. After these five fiestas, it will be the celebration of Alicante’s patron saint, Saint Nicholas of Bari, on December, 6 where the very best representation parades throughout the centre of Alicante in its consolidated Moors and Christians Entrance.
